Description

A warm welcome to La Vigne where we would like to offer you a memorable stay in a relaxed rural setting.

The house is situated in the small hamlet of Le Pradal in the heart of the Dordogne within walking distance of the beautiful bastide town of Domme, close to Sarlat, La Roque Gageac, and Beynac.

La Vigne is an ideal place to come and relax after a long day sightseeing or house hunting. During the summer months take a swim, stroll in the beautiful countryside or for the more energetic we have two mountain bikes available for guests. Then relax with a glass of wine on the terrace and watch the amazing sunset over Domme.

The house is positioned in two acres of gently sloping gardens, a former vineyard, with amazing views across to Domme and the surrounding valley. There is a large sunny terrace with sun beds and private pool for guest use.

The accommodation comprises of  a large oak beamed salon with stone fireplace, dining area, a fantastic, fully fitted kitchen, utility room, and 3 generous bedrooms:-

Rouge  At the front of the property with wonderful views of Dome, a large double room with king size bed, and ensuite bathroom.

Bleu  A tranquil twin room situated at the rear of the property with two windows overlooking the garden and nearby wooded slopes. This room also has an ensuite bathroom.

Aubergine  Occupying the upper floor with amazing views, a large L-shaped, oak beamed double room, with connecting dressing room, and large bathroom with free standing bath. This bedroom has an additional single futon if required.

Take a packed lunch and canoe down the Dordogne from Cenac or Vitrac to Beynac stopping off for lunch at one of the many riverside beaches.

There are many Routes de Randonnee in the area for walkers.

A ten minute up hill walk brings you to the Domme/Sarlat Airfield where an annual air show takes place in August, there are various flying activities available during the summer months.

From La Roque-Gageac take an amazing trip in a hot air balloon, early morning or evening, along the Dordogne valley.

We are surrounded by so many chateaux, all worth a visit, Beynac, Castlenaud, Montfort, Fenelon, and Milandes to mention just a few.

Domme

A ten minute walk from La Vigne takes you to the centre of Domme, a bastide town dating back to 1281. Despite its lofty position above the Dordogne River it was captured many times by the English and the counts of Perigord. If you approach Domme from the east you enter through the best preserved of its three gates, the 13th century Porte des Tours, the towers on either side were converted into prisons in 1307 following the arrest of the Knights Templar. Today you can stroll through the medieval archways, and streets full of restaurants, bars/cafes, craft and gift shops. On Thursdays there is a weekly market in the square beside the tourist office, and a little higher up there is the most spectacular view of the Dordogne River stretching from Montfort to Beynac.

Sarlat

The capital of the Perigord Noir, a beautifully restored medieval town with cobbled lanes and hidden courtyards. The Saturday market is well worth a visit. There are numerous restaurants, and local delicacies include foie gras, confit de canard, cassoulet, cepes, and walnuts, with excellent wines from Cahors, Bergerac, and Bordeaux.

Rocamadour

About an hour's drive from La Vigne, but a must, the second most visited place in France. A vertical cliff dwellers' town, the beautiful golden stone houses and chapels piled on top of one another over a deep ravine. There are wonderful views from the top of the cliff which can be reached by climbing the steps or by lift.
