
This stunning 17th century chateau is situated 80km south of Limoges in picturesque undulating countryside and is the perefct base to explore the region of Dordogne.
The chateau is set in 15 acres of grounds, tranquil gardens and orchards that lead to a lake and private woodland paths, perfect for leisurely strolls and a nature lovers paradise. It has been family owned for over 300 years and is a charming example of gracious 17th century manoir living.
Lovingly restored, all the rooms in the chateau are individually furnished to an exceptionally high standard with antiques and authentic French fabrics and silks.
The ancient house dates back to 13th Century but the main bulk is from the 17th. For generations it was home to the Comtes de Tessyiere military family.
The chateau sits on elevated ground overlooking the park and the 12 acre Arboretum. Inter-connecting Salons with a long couloir ensure coolness in summer and warmth in the winter.
Ground floor
A stone flagged entrance hall leads to the Grand Salon with antique furniture and plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs. The dining room has an antique table and chairs for 12. In addition there is a billiard room with inter connecting doors to the petit salon and the bureau.
The kitchen can also be used as a dining space and comes with open fire & seating for 12. It is also fully equiped with range, 2 dishwashers, 2 fridges, microwave, fitted units and a stone sink. There is also a utility room with laundry & scullery and a pool changing/shower room. There are 2 cloakrooms.
First floor
There are four grand double bedroom suites with antique furniture and polished ancient floorboards. Each has a fully equiped en-suite bathroom - two with thermostatic showers. Beautiful traditional wall paper and fabrics can be seen throughout.
Second floor
There are two further twin bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, beautiful wall paper, fabrics and antique furniture.
Outside
The beautiful gardens include an arboretum with lake so that you may emjoy scenic walks throughout the park. A large private swimming pool nestles in the wild flower meadow.
Around the house there are two dining terraces, one adjacent to the kitchen with a huge round table for big family lunches that sits in the shade of an ancient Box tree with views across the valley. The other is a more formal terrace accessed from the salons for drinks or a quiet evening meal.
