DORDOGNE COTTAGE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO HISTORIC VILLAGE. (SLEEPS 4)
This spacious, character cottage is situated in the 'Perigord Vert' region of the Dordogne: An area of outstanding natural beauty which has the added advantage of being within easy reach of many tourist attractions. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt with rolling hills and valleys, fairytale chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves, many rivers and lakes to explore and most famously - the wonderful restaurants boasting dishes of truffles and foie gras.
The cottage is situated only 1/4 kilometre from the historic village of Payzac where you can take a stroll each morning to buy your fresh croissants for breakfast from one of the two excellent bakeries,or have a 5 course lunch (including wine) at one of the village restaurants for as little as 12euros!! The River Auvezere is a short walk away and is a popular spot for fishing.
ABOUT THE COTTAGE:
The cottage is situated in approximately 4 acres of grounds which was once a working farm and the abode of a local dignitary - whose initials can be seen in the intricate wrought iron work on the master bedroom balcony .
The cottage is named 'Le Petit Vallon' because of its stunning hillside location - overlooking the 'little valley' and to the village beyond where you can see Payzac church tower. The owners Mike and Jenny live next door and are 'on hand' if you need any help or advice. The cottage is completely independent and guests can enjoy their holiday in complete privacy. Le Petit Vallon also has its own private parking area, washing line plus its own garden.
THE ACCOMMODATION COMPRISES :
GROUND FLOOR : Lounge with comfortable seating for 4 persons. Log burning stove which can be used during the winter months. Wood can be purchased at a small cost. Large TV which receives English programmes. Seperate dining room, WC with wash basin, office area (with desk , computer and broadband internet connection), large, fully equipped kitchen and breakfast room.
THE TERRACE: Off the breakfast room there is a large, sunny terrace with views over the valley and beyond. The terrace has a built-in BBQ, patio furniture and 2 x sun loungers.
FIRST FLOOR : One twin bedroom (2 x single beds) , one double bedroom (1 x double bed) with french doors leading out onto a 'Juliette' balcony with views, shower room with WC and wash basin.
THE GROUNDS: The cottage has a parking area leading to its own garden. Here - a seating area has been created under the shade of the cherry tree. The cottage is situated within 4 acres of meadow and woodlands where there are buzzards nesting in the trees and one can sometimes spot a deer crossing the land - or even a wild boar!
