An opportunity not just to visit France, but to immerse yourself in the wonderful culture of a French village. Maisonneuve is not a hide-away retreat (although the walled garden might give you that feeling) but a house in the middle of this bustling town. Sleeps 4-6 comfortably.
Maisonneuve is a pretty house that is located in the heart of the town, with a stream that runs underneath it and through the back garden; it has been modernised over the years. The original property with its two-foot thick walls is over three hundred years old, and accommodation is on two floors. It is situated facing East/West and the large garden gets the sun all day long. The property is set in the beautiful town of Lalinde, a 'bastide' town that still retains its original charm. It is bordered on one side by the Dordogne and on the other by a peaceful canal, which was built some 150 years ago, so that the wine barges could bypass the shallower parts of the river. Today it boasts a bustling market every Thursday and Saturday. This is not a small village; Maisonneuve is located in a thriving town which allows visitors to really immerse themselves in the local culture. The property is very central, and yet the river itself is a 200m walk through the town square. Lalinde has all the shops to provide you with your day-to-day needs, butchers, bakers, banks, post office, garage, train station, several supermarkets, as well as many hotels and restaurants.
