Within walking distance you enter the historic riverside village of Plassac with its Roman remains. Nearby you can visit a prehistoric cave with paintings ( Grotte Pair non Pair). Further evidence are found in the area's fascinating Gallo-Roman history.
Following the legend, France's very first vineyard emerged here, where the Romans started growing vine on the hill of Chateau Bellevue around 200 PC. Today a very small quantity of the exclusive "Château Bellevue" wine is privately produced.
The chateau looks towards the region of the Medoc which is accessible by nearby regular ferry services from the delightful small town of Blaye (with its famous Citadel and markets to enjoy). Once across the river all the classic chateaux of the Medoc (Margeaux, Palmer and Lafite-Rothschild etc) are within easy reach to have sightseeings and wine tours. A further pleasant short drive reveals miles of sandy beaches on the Atlantic coast (30 min) for surfing and wonderful golfcoures (30-40 min).
The owner helds very good connections to various wine chateaus of Blaye and Bourg so he can provide private wine tours and wine tastings at all times.
Ending the day with a delicious barbeque and favourite wines in Chateau Bellevue, there will be no better....
Breakfast at the Chateau is carefully prepared. Table d´hôtes (dinner) on request. English, French and German languages are all spoken fluently and cheerfully.
Regrettably it is unsuitable for small children under the age of six.
The owner wishes a nice journey to Chateau Bellevue and will give you a warm welcome.
