Two picturesque 18th century cottages nestling close to the banks of the River Lot in the medieval village of Puy l'Évêque.
These cottages date back to the 18th century and are located in the medieval town of Puy l'Évêque. The homes were built with the local stone, and are full of character and rich in history. They are approached through a stepped alleyway leading from the tree-lined banks of the River Lot. The cottages offer beautiful views over the river, and each one has a terrace, which is ideal for relaxing and chatting with local people as they pass by. The two cottages can be rented separately, or together for parties of up to 8. Both houses were recently fully renovated in the traditional style. They still have their beautiful old features – exposed beams, stone walls, tiled and wooden floors, and open fireplaces – but now also offer fully fitted kitchens with dishwashers, fridge with freezer compartment and microwaves, central heating, and satellite TV. Each cottage has a barbecue on the terrace for those lazy summer evenings. For anyone thinking about buying a house in the area, the cottages provide an ideal base for visiting the many local estate agents.
4 Rue des Mariniers.
The front door of No 4 Rue des Mariniers opens into the hallway, with the shower room off to the left. The hall leads to the well-equipped kitchen, which has a large dining table. From here a door leads outside to the two-tiered terrace, which gives a great view over the river. Wooden stairs lead from the hallway up to the main sitting room, which features a large open fireplace with a traditional "Godin" wood burning stove, and satellite TV with video. The two double bedrooms lead off from the sitting room.
6 Rue des Mariniers.
No 6 Rue des Mariniers opens into a modern, well-equipped kitchen, which has a small dining table and an original stone sink that is still in use. The shower room leads off from the kitchen. A stone staircase leads up to the first floor sitting room which has an open fireplace. Beside this is a family room with satellite TV and video, and wonderful views over the River Lot. With its sofa bed, this room can be easily converted into another bedroom for occasional guests. In the sitting room, a wooden staircase provides access to the master bedroom, which has a double bed. The terrace with barbecue is at the front of the cottage.

Rental Conditions: Provisional bookings can be made by telephone or e-mail and will be held for 10 days pending receipt of a deposit of €130 per week, except in June through September when it is €220 per week. The balance is payable 6 weeks before your arrival. Changeover day is Saturday, arrival after 16:00, departure by 10:00. Rates exclude utilities, except for bookings in July & August. Prices for linen/towels and end of stay cleaning are available on request. Long-term rentals also available.
