A 400 year old stone house, restored to a high standard, backing onto the River Creuse, near the Loire Valley
This charming 400 year old detached house is situated in a small cluster of old buildings near the village of St-Rémy-sur-Creuse. The original stone walls are more than two feet (60cm) thick. Interesting markings are carved into the stone, including flood levels which go back hundreds of years! The spacious living/dining room is open to a "minstrels gallery" on the first floor. Wooden beams and stone walls have been maintained throughout the property, which is furnished in keeping with the cottage style. The fully renovated kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, and gas cooker.
The first floor has three bedrooms - one double and two twin bedrooms, along with a shower/WC room - all leading off an open balcony-type landing. There is another double bedroom on the ground floor, which is beside a bathroom with a stand alone shower and bath, and a separate WC. The grassy garden leads right down to the mature trees on the banks of the river Creuse. It is ideal for dining outside, as it is fully equipped with garden furniture and a barbeque.
