L'ÂneVert is a beautifully restored farmhouse, on the edge of a typical French village in the heart of the Dordogne. This spacious property is beautifully furnished with a large well equipped kitchen and two separate living rooms. The main house sleeps eight in two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, with two newly fitted bath/shower rooms. The large lounge/dining room, with satellite TV/Video/DVD is overlooked by an upstairs gallery, features an open fireplace, an impressive dining table , baby grand piano and many original works of art. There is also a self-contained en-suite apartment, sleeping two. French doors open onto large mature gardens with patio areas for dining and large play areas inc badminton & Table Tennis. There is a secluded sun terrace next to the swimming pool (12m x 6m) which is alarmed for child safety. Guests have access to the properties 20 acres of pasture, woodlands, orchards and fishing lake. There are also resident ducks, a horse and Teddy, the donkey.

L'Âne Vert is beautifully situated, surrounded by vineyards and forest and within walking distance of the village of Saint Méard de Gurcon. There are two excellent restaurants in the village and several more in the surrounding area offering superb food and wine.

 

The wonderful Saturday morning market in the 12th century 'bastide' town of Sainte-Foy-La-Grande is one the most popular in the area and there is a market for every day of the week in the surrounding towns and villages. L'Âne Vert is perfectly situated to visit the famous vineyards of St Emilion, the historic towns of Périgueux, Bergerac and Castillion la Bataille, the city of Bordeaux and the prehistoric caves of Lascaux.

 

Also nearby are attractions for children including the Lac de Gurcon. A beach and lake which is set amongst forest and provides safe swimming and sunbathing for families. There are also Restaurants, Bars and play areas with boating and water slides etc for the children. A superb holiday location.

L'Ane Vert is available for let between April and October. Within the season and out of the season subject to availability L'Ane Vert is available on a Bed @ Breakfast basis. As the house is empty this means that guests have the use of the kitchen and living rooms and are able to cook for themselves if they wish. Coffee, tea, bread milk and sugar etc will be provided throughout your stay.

 

Golf Information

Château des Vigiers, 15km from L'Âne Vert, is a golf and leisure complex offering an 18-hole golf course and driving range. Visitors are welcome and golfers with a minimum 36 handicap can play. The château also offers 2 restaurants and a beauty salon.

Wine and vineyards

L'Âne Vert is in the heart of wine country. Here, you can enjoy award-winning local red, rosé and white Bergerac and Montravel wines, made at properties a short walk away. Just 40 minutes drive takes you to St. Emilion and Pomerol, exclusive districts of the vast Bordeaux vineyards and home to some of the finest (and at Château Petrus, the most expensive!) wines in the world. Vineyards worth a visit include Château Le Raz and Château Laulerie.

Activities for children

Children can enjoy horse riding at the equestrian centre on the edge of Saint Méard, canoeing on the River Dordogne, water slides at the Aqua Park near Bergerac, the thrills and spills of the motor racing track at Bergerac Karting or jet skis, quad bikes and roller skating at Pro-Glisse 4km from Saint Méard. 8km from St Méard, the Lac de Gurson is a haven of peace and quiet out of season and a full beach and leisure complex during the summer, complete with bars, restaurants, water chute and swimming in the lake. Conditions de location: L\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Ane Vert is available for a variety of letting options from bed and breakfast, short stay breaks and long stays. From September excluding Christmas any of these options are available at any time or date to suit at £50 per person per night. Payment is only accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner/advertiser. There is a 20% deposit required to secure the booking. The property is available exclusively based on two people sharing at £100 per night. Bed and Breakfast is available based on two people sharing at £80 per night. A security deposit of £300 is payable on arrival and will be refunded on departure if there are no breakages or damage. Only applicable on short and long stay breaks of over two nights. During October – April there is an addition charge of £50 per week for central heating. For Self Catering weeks the property is available From £600 - £1800.
