La Grange   Situated in the Périgord/Limousin National Park, quiet but not isolated, a traditionally renovated 5 bed farmhouse with all private facilities sleeping 6-10 people.

 Through the front door into the fully tiled ground floor, there is a toilet off the hallway.    Stairs up to a galleried landing from which there are 1 queen room, 1 double room, 3 twin room, bathroom, shower room and a furnished 'sipping' veranda overlooking lakes & woodland.  The kitchen/dining room, with it's large farmhouse table to seat up to 10, is fully fitted and has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, iron & board. The large comfortable lounge with a woodburning stove, has TV, video and extensive video & book libraries.  Games and lawn games.  The French doors go out onto a private patio with table & parasol  & leads round to the furnished BBQ area.  The sparkling fully fenced 10x5mt pool has floaties!  Cushioned loungers and a lawned area, private parking & entrance complete La Grange.

The village of St Estèphe, 1km, has a minimarket, post office, bakery, brocants, cafés, bars, general store.  Le Grand Etang de St Estèphe has a beach, moored diving platform, boardwalks, picnic areas, cafés, bars, restaurant, children's activity area's (fenced) and in high season there is a lifeguard and free canoes/kayaks. Tennis court.

 Horse riding 1.5kms, fishing/carp fishing may be arranged.

The town of Piégut, 5kms, has a huge Wednesday morning market, restaurants, cafés, supermarket & various shops, all facilities.

Nontron, 9 kms, has choice of large supermarkets, a good Saturday morning market, all facilities and there are historic buildings and the oldest knife factory in France.

 

Brantôme, the 'Venice of the Dordogne' is 1/2 hour by car.  This beautiful historic town with it's centre in the river Dronne has a good Friday morning market, restaurants & cafés, caves & a château to visit.  Take a boat trip around the town or canoe downriver to Bourdeilles (3hrs!) for lunch.

St Sornin winery, 25mins, tour & taste before you buy.

Angoulême, Limoges & Périgueux are major cities each with Roman 'hearts'. Lots to see & shop for.

 

Oradour-sur-Glane the living museum villge, a reminder of WW11.

Take a day out at the forest activity centre & climb into the tree tops. Tracks for all levels & ages at Les Acrobois.
